Washington, D.C. 5 Nov 2026:
Dr. K. A. Paul, international peace advocate and President of the Global Peace Initiative, has reiterated his call for an immediate end to the Iran war following the Democratic Party's victory in the 2026 US midterm elections, which has resulted in the party securing control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Dr. Paul had warned at the Global Peace Summit held in Washington, D.C., on September 23, 2026, that President Donald Trump could face a major electoral setback if he failed to bring the Iran war to an end. He had specifically predicted that Republicans could lose control of both chambers of Congress, a prediction that has now materialised with the Democratic victory in the midterm elections.
Dr. Paul had repeatedly urged President Trump to prioritise peace and pursue diplomatic solutions to end the conflict, warning that the continuation of the war would have serious consequences for people across the world. He has maintained that wars have far-reaching humanitarian, economic and social consequences that extend well beyond the countries directly involved.
Commenting on the political developments in Israel, Dr. Paul also recalled his repeated calls for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's defeat over his government's role in continuing regional conflicts, including the Iran war.
The recently concluded Israeli elections have dealt a significant setback to Netanyahu's political bloc. His Likud Party secured 27 seats in the 120-member Knesset, while the coalition supporting him secured a total of 53 seats, falling short of the 61 required for a parliamentary majority. The election results have left the formation of the next government uncertain.
Dr. Paul described the electoral developments in both countries as an important moment for those advocating peace and international cooperation. He has consistently called on political leaders to place human lives and global stability above military confrontations.
Expressing concern over the political future of US House Speaker Mike Johnson, whom he considers a close friend, Dr. Paul said that Johnson could lose his position as Speaker when the new Congress takes office in January 2027. He also expressed his appreciation for Johnson's leadership and his association with the peace initiative.
Reiterating his appeal to world leaders, Dr. Paul said that the priority must now be to end the Iran war and work towards resolving conflicts through dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful negotiations.
He urged President Trump, Prime Minister Netanyahu and other international leaders to take concrete steps towards ending ongoing wars and preventing further loss of human lives.
Dr. Paul's message remains clear: Peace must prevail over war, dialogue must replace confrontation, and world leaders must work together to secure a safer future for humanity.
