Nedumbassery, Kerala, 05 November 2026: RIOD Logic Pvt Ltd, an EV charging and energy technology company headquartered at Infopark Thrissur, has opened its manufacturing subsidiary at Vengoor, Nedumbassery, and launched dynamic UPI-based payments on its EV chargers. Kailash C S, Director, EV Charging at RIOD, inaugurated the facility.
The facility has a current capacity of around 2,500 chargers a month. It manufactures AC EV chargers from 3.3 kW to 22 kW, and RIOD also offers DC charger development and energy products as OEM and ODM solutions. From this facility RIOD will supply CKD and SKD kits for partners who assemble locally, and serve export markets alongside customers in India.
"This facility lets us take on bigger programmes and deliver faster, in India and overseas," said Kailash C S, Director, EV Charging at RIOD. "Our partners can now count on us for volume as well as engineering."
RIOD has worked in EV charging since 2020, supporting charging companies and technology partners around the world with hardware, firmware and software. Chargers built at the new facility support UPI payments, a community mode for apartments, offices and housing societies that share chargers among residents, and secure charging with secure communication between the charger and the cloud.
Dynamic UPI: the rate and the cost before the charge
Most UPI-enabled chargers today use a static QR code, a printed sticker that stays the same for every session. Drivers pay without knowing the unit rate or what the session will really cost, and hosts often struggle to reconcile payments against actual charging, which leaves many of them waiting to be paid.
RIOD chargers generate a fresh QR code for every session. The driver scans the charger, chooses an amount or a charging time, and sees the unit rate and the exact cost before paying with any UPI app. Within a few seconds of payment, charging starts automatically. The driver can stop at any time, and the unused amount is credited back to their account. No app or sign-up is needed, though drivers who sign up get a full, detailed charging history through the RIOD platform.
For hosts who own the chargers, every payment is reconciled automatically against its session, and payouts arrive within 2 days, and within 7 days at most.
"Paying for a charge should be as simple as paying for anything else in India," said Akhil Joy, CEO of RIOD Logic. "Dynamic UPI makes the price clear for the driver and gets the money to the host quickly. That is what makes public charging work as a business."
A wider push in EV charging
The new facility and the UPI launch are part of RIOD's broader investment in EV charging technology. That includes custom charging management systems (CMS), the Charger360 platform, energy optimisation, and new work on secure Plug & Charge, including ISO 15118 in hardware and an OBD-based approach for cars without ISO 15118.
